John David Roy Atchison, Asst US Attorney in Northern Florida lists himself as a “family man”, he’s president of the Gulf Breeze Sports Association, a youth athletics organization and he’s been arrested in Detroit, MI by the FBI.
In the sting, he coerced the undercover agent who was acting as a mother of a five year old girl into letting him have sex with the child. Atchison and the undercover agent have a lengthy dialog on record as he tried to convince the “(agent) mother” to allow him access to the child for sexual intercourse. During the conversations between the two; Atchison promised the fake-parent that he wouldn’t ever (sexually/medically) “damage” the girl and he explained that he’s done this many time before.
In the deposition, detectives said Atchison suggested the mother tell her daughter that “you found her a sweet boyfriend who will bring her presents” (as a lure for the “child” to look forward to his arrival).
The undercover detective expressed concern about physical injury to the 5-year-old girl as a result of the sexual activity. Detectives said Atchison responded, ” I am always gentle and loving; not to worry, no damage ever, no rough stuff ever. I only like it soft and nice.”The undercover detective asked how Atchison can be certain of no injury. He responded, “Just gotta go slow and very easy. I’ve done it plenty,” according to detectives.

Atchison; convinced the child was available, and the “mother” was willing to let him have sex with her, grabbed a Continental flight out of Tallahassee and headed to Detroit via Dallas where he was arrested upon landing at the airport on Sunday. He was arraigned in the Michigan court today and he’s let the court appoint an attorney to defend him.
Atchison faces sixty-years in prison for this crime. From the FBI’s perspective, I found this from the Pensacola News Journal:
The agent, Linda Findlay, made contact with Atchison on Aug. 29 though online instant messaging software. During the conversation, Atchison referred to himself as “very much a family man.”
Between Aug. 31 and Sept. 12, Atchison had almost daily contact with Findlay. During several conversations, he described various sexual acts he wanted to perform with Findlay’s fictitious 5-year-old daughter.
He assured Findlay that the child wouldn’t require any medical attention after the sexual acts took place.
In relation to his party affiliation, I found this particularly interesting blogger-dude who noted that Atchison’s boss, US Attorney Gregory Miller, was appointed by George W Bush and was proud of his apprehension of pedophiles in the state of Florida.
…He calls himself a family man.
Atchison’s party affiliation isn’t given, but his boss Miller is a GOPer who was doing such a good job Gonzo didn’t need to have him fired, his priorities are the Bush administration’s priorities. Every single one of these bizarre pedophiles turns out to be a Republican…so strange, what HAS happened to the Republican Party to produce such deviant behavior. Hmmmm. Then again, perhaps Mr. Atchison was so busy coaching kids playing sports in Gulf Breeze he didn’t have much time for politics.

We tried to contact Michele Bachmann (R-MN 6-CD) and asked her if she was aware of the GOP Asst Attorney’s arrest and if she still believed that Gay Men and Women were the “True threat to the American Family“. We are still waiting for a reply.
A personal note: Roy Atchison’s wife is a science teacher at Gulf Breeze High School. My humble sympathies and deepest condolences. All school teachers hold a special place in my heart and will forever. Mrs. Atchison is alone in Florida tonight while her husband is in jail in Michigan and seeing a judge tomorrow for being a sexual-predator, a monster and a horrible Demon. My heart goes out to her and her community.

I No the Family and Mrs. Atchison….. and they are in complete shock as well as I in this matter. It is a tragedy for our community and we will not judge the family who is also an innocent victim in this misfortunate event. Bear in mind….if this was happening to you and friends, the last thing you would want to hear is horrible accusations from people you dont even no. Mrs. Atchison and her kids are wonderful people as well as Roy. He was always there to help and never asked for anything else. Mrs. Atchison is a wonderful teacher and a volunteer to the community. There kids are smart and always a joy to be around. I pray that this is some sick joke that was over publicized by the media…..but if this is the real case of what happened….. I am here for the family and want them to no they have my support. To Mrs. Atchison and your beautiful children, you will not be judged in my eyes and hope you can go on from this moment.

You obviously are “in shock” or you would not include Roy in your list of “wonderful people.” Why would you even say that? Everyone feels for his family, just not for him. I’m sure he knew how to show his nice side to society and saved his sicko self for five year olds. Take a cold shower and face reality. I feel your pain. I too knew the Atchison family and was completely floored by the accusation. I couldn’t agree more with your comments about Mrs. Atchison, who was my high school science teacher, and the Atchison family. And, BlownAway, I would put Roy Atchison on my list of “wonderful people”. If this is all true, and YES I live in reality and am quite sure it’s true and he’s extremely disturbed, but can cry everytime I feel like I have to admit it. I truly respected the Roy Atchison I knew, and will remember him as that, and choose keep that Roy Atchison in my heart. To the Atchison’s: I love you all and will always be next to you! Roy most likely had a good side at one time. This type of perversion most likely started with a sick, deviate fantasy. Most people who have perverted fantasies don’t act on them. Whether the fantasy is molesting kids, incest, beastiality or other sexual perversion or fantasies about murdering your enemies it remains a sick fantasy where they will not cross that line. Unfortunately Roy crossed that line and let his demons get the better of him and like drugs he got hooked on this gross perversion. He should have spoke to a therapist about his sick fantasies and kept them in check but he didn’t and it is tragic. The man had demons that got the better of him and now he is dead. Also I can’t stand most Republicans and their agenda however I am not going to judge Republicans based on this man’s sick behavior. Because they are perverts from all ethnic and political backgrounds.
