Republicanville: Tent cities springing up everywhere

Coming to a town near you!

Copying the days of the Great Depression of the 1930’s, tent cities (a.k.a. “Hooverviles” have begun to spring up everywhere in the United States.

Today, tent cities are popping up everywhere, and I’m going to insist that we call them Republicanvilles.  In Reno, NV:080918-tent-cities-bcol1pstandard

“…more than 150 people were living in tents big and small, barely a foot apart in a patch of dirt slated to be a parking lot for a campus of shelters Reno is building for its homeless population. Like many other cities, Reno has found itself with a “tent city” — an encampment of people who had nowhere else to go.

~~

Nearly 61 percent of local and state homeless coalitions say they’ve experienced a rise in homelessness since the foreclosure crisis began in 2007, according to a report by the National Coalition for the Homeless. The group says the problem has worsened since the report’s release in April, with foreclosures mounting, gas and food prices rising and the job market tightening.

Other cities have reported ten cities (a.k.a. “Republicanvilles”) have sprung up in Chattanooga, TN, San Diego, CA and Columbus, OH.

In Seattle, which is experiencing a building boom and an influx of affluent professionals in neighborhoods the working class once owned, homeless encampments have been springing up — in remote places to avoid police sweeps.

“What’s happening in Seattle is what’s happening everywhere else — on steroids,” said Tim Harris, executive director of Real Change, an advocacy organization that publishes a weekly newspaper sold by homeless people.

Photoblogs from the San Francisco Gate on the growing population of Repbulicanvilles can been seen by clicking here.

Meanwhile, Robert B. Zoellick, president of the World Bank, sounds an awful lot like our own President Barack Obama who said after announcing a massive shrinkage in a global economy and global trade:

“This global crisis needs a global solution and preventing an economic catastrophe in developing countries is important for global efforts to overcome this crisis,” Mr. Zoellick said in a statement. “We need investments in safety nets, infrastructure, and small and medium-size companies to create jobs and to avoid social and political unrest.”

The World Bank said:

The World Bank said in a new report that the crisis that began with junk mortgages in the United States was causing havoc for poorer countries that had nothing to do with the original problem.

Those junk mortgages came from the Republican Party and the Bush Administration with the the 1999 Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act which:

…broke down barriers between banks, securities firms, mortgage lenders and insurance companies. That deregulation repealed Great Depression-era bank regulations with the approval of former president Bill Clinton.

Even though the Act has Republican names on it, and the President was being impeached at the time, the Republican Party will swear it was Clinton’s fault. It was former US Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX) who was the chief architect of that bill that has shoved Ms. Tammy Day into homelessness just four days ago in Sacramento, CA.

In other exciting news, Paris Hilton goes “clubbing” with Ellen Degeneres, RNC Chair Michael Steele has taken down his new “hip-hop” blog (because the Republican de factor leader told him to take it down because there were too many PDF files linked in it and there wasn’t enough child-porn) and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) admits to being a whopper of a Welfare Queen when it comes to spending for his state, but hates everybody else’s earmarks (and John McCain hates Lindsey Graham’s SC earmarks). The New York Times is reporting over 600,000 jobs were lost in February, John McCain (R-AZ) and Richard Shelby (R-AL) are delighted to watch mega-banks fail and think it would be good for all of us to “learn our lesson”, and Charles Krauthammer (R-Shill) continues to get paid for being able to pout and whine better than anybody else.

FruitFly 6Oh!  And I almost forgot the most important news of the day!  Matt Damon and his sexy Spandex.  I’ll assume by those photos that Matt was definitely born a male child.  So when a Republicanville shows up on the outskirts of your town, be sure to act like a true Republican and remind them that it was their fault they’re living underneath a nylon roof.

Who will mourn Lawrence King’s death?!

LKingLawrence King was the fifteen year old boy who was shot in the head in a computer lab in an Oxnard Middle School last Tuesday. Yesterday, reports came out that King was in critical condition but showed signs of improvement. However, late last night, Lawrence was pronounced brain dead by two neurosurgeons.

Lawrence King, 15, was declared brain dead by two neurosurgeons about 2 p.m. at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, said Craig Stevens, senior deputy Ventura County medical examiner. King’s body remains on a ventilator for possible organ donation, he said. He was shot early Tuesday in a classroom at E.O. Green Junior High School.

Authorities initially believed that King was improving. But the boy’s condition worsened early Wednesday, and he was placed on a ventilator a few hours later with his family nearby, said an official, who asked not to be named.

KNBC of Los Angeles reports Hueneme School District Superintendent Jerry Dannenberg as saying:

King had been receiving help from school support staff, Dannenberg said. He had no details on the type of assistance the teen needed.

“He was seeing a number of people trying to help him deal with his own personal issues,” he said.

And there’s your pretty little lie about Lawrence King. His “own personal issues” was code for “he was queer” and he was being bullied around by other students. The fact is that he told others he was gay and would show up at school dressed in girls clothing. The fact is that he wouldn’t back down when the other boys bullied him around.

But several students at the south Oxnard campus said King and his alleged assailant had a falling out stemming from King’s sexual orientation.

The teenager sometimes wore feminine clothing and makeup, and proclaimed he was gay, students said.

“He would come to school in high-heeled boots, makeup, jewelry and painted nails — the whole thing,” said Michael Sweeney, 13, an eighth-grader. “That was freaking the guys out.”

GLBT FlagKing was a “throw away kid”. Lawrence was under the Ventura County foster care program and living at Casa Pacifica, a nearby center for abused and neglected children. However, he wouldn’t step down when others tried to bully him around. Even the school administration ignored the problem when he was being bullied because it appears the bullying was chronic!

Several students said that a day before the shooting, King and several boys had some kind of altercation during the lunch period.

Jerry Dannenberg, the school district superintendent, said the school’s staff was aware that King had butted heads with other students, including the suspect, and offered both students help.

Dannenberg goes on to point to the murdered boy as the real problem:

“They had been doing a lot of counseling and a lot of work with [King] to help him deal with some of his concerns and issues,” Dannenberg said. “But I can’t go into specifics about what was going on.”

…because most feminine boys need to be bullied and kicked around once in a while, don’t they? I’m sure Superintendent Dannenberg can drive home proudly knowing that there will be one less queer kid who won’t be showing up at his school no more. And I’m sure he’ll have plans to “talk” to other students about bullying. There’ll be some student wide meetings about bullying. <yawn> Boring stuff that’s all put on to make sure everybody knows the school “cares”. But since the “problem child” is dead, the superintendent’s concern will last about seventy-two hours…maybe a few minutes more.

In a month, Dannenberg won’t even remember the kid’s name.

What does it take for a couple of professionally trained educators to see a 15 year old boy wearing make-up and girls clothes to keep an eye on the kid? Make sure he’s safe? An occasional “watchful eye” on the boy as he’s walking down the halls or out on the grounds? You can’t tell me every faculty member in that school knows which kids are living in Casa Pacifica and that those are the kids who don’t have a family to go home to. And here comes this strange little boy with fingernail polish and wearing a pair of girls high-heeled boots and their answer is to “send him to counseling”?!?!

And what about the suspect?

Student Juan Sandoval, 14, said he shared a fourth-period algebra class with the suspect, whom he described as a calm, smart student who played on the basketball team. “I didn’t think he was that kind of kid,” Sandoval said. “I guess you never know. He made a big mistake.”

If authorities can point the killing as a hate crime, the suspect will stand trial as an adult.

Ventura County Dist. Atty. Gregory Totten said prosecutors would decide whether the case should remain in Juvenile Court after reviewing the police investigation. Under state law, prosecutors can ask the court to try the suspect as an adult, he said. “In all probability he will be charged in adult court,” Totten said.

Don’t hold your breath on that trial. The suspect, hours after the shooting, was found a few blocks away still holding the gun. My bet will be; he won’t get more than a few years in jail. More likely, he’ll get probation.

  1. Lawrence King won’t have his family at the trial bawling and crying on behalf of their dead son.
  2. Ventura County and the school won’t have to pay for the kid’s education, housing or his food. The courts will wrap this case up really quick.
  3. The suspect will get a wizz-bang attorney because it’ll be an easy win and the attorney’s humping for a partnership.

If you hunt around on this story on your own, you’ll be stunned to see how many professional medial sites talk about the FruitFlystory and yet never once make mention of King’s sexual orientation. What’s even more tragic is seeing those same news sites dwelling on the fact that King “had problems” and he was “under a lot of counseling”. All of it slanting towards the idea that King brought it on himself.

Who will morn Lawrence King’s death? I will. And I’m guessing I’ll be in very small company.

Thank you John of the ComingOut group for bringing this to my attention.

The Los Angeles Times has released the name of the suspect as Brandon McInerney (14 yrs old). McInerneny has been charged for premeditated hate crime, and enhancements of the use of a firearm as well as listed as a hate crime. The boy, although a minor, could face up to 50 years to life in prison and is currently being held on $770,000 bail.

Brandon McInernenyUnder California law, the legal cut-off for charging an adolescent as an adult is 14 years, and Brandon turned fourteen just two weeks earlier on January 24th. This leaves the option open for prosecutors to add the additional case that he be tried as an adult.

The article also points out that McInerney grew up in Oxnard on the south side of town where his father has had a few bumps with the law. In 2000, charged with disturbing the peace and a few months later, charged with domestic abuse where he served 10 days and 36 months probation. In 2002, he plead guilty to drunk driving and driving without a license and served another 5 days in jail.

Students witnessed an altercation between King and bunch of boys, including McInerney the day before the shooting took place. It is still unknown how McInerney smuggled the weapon onto school grounds.

Also heartening, if that’s at all possible, is the groundswell of support coming out of the GLBT organizations in the area. Although King was living in Casa Pacifica, and it’s not made public as to why he was living there, he was involved with the local GLBT programs for teen and young adults.

The case is drawing attention from a growing number of gay rights groups, which said they would be watching developments closely.

“In the 15-year history of this organization, this is the first time we’ve seen the district attorney act this swiftly and clearly to say ‘This will not be tolerated,’ ” said Jay Smith, executive director of the Ventura County Rainbow Alliance, a nonprofit group that advocates for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights.

“We’re assuming that the hate crime component has to do with [King’s] sexuality,” Smith said. “Because of that, we are very eager to see the district attorney follow through.”

Smith said King had participated in Friday night rap sessions at the alliance’s offices in Ventura. The sessions are for youths ages 13 to 23 regardless of their sexual orientation, Smith said.

In a world of disconnections, one piece does shine through:

Student Averi Laskey, 13, said she had known King since grammar school and liked him. She said that only in the last two weeks had he begun dressing in a feminine manner.

“Even if he was different, he didn’t deserve it,” she said.

Laskey said King was happy at Casa Pacifica, although he had to take a long bus ride to and from school every day. He said he grew up in a troubled home, she said.

“He never felt like he had a family, but he told me when he got to Casa Pacifica that he had one there,” Laskey said.

We can can only hope God found a real family for that poor little guy. …In a place far away from Hate.

updated3It’s time to change the message.

Ellen Degeneres touched this topic beautifully and she makes a valid point. Watch it here.

Barack Obama’s Great Hate Parade

Barack Obama RapperBarack Obama’s campaign is now appearing more as a parade of silliness than as a serious candidate for the President of the United States. The author of Obama’s official campaign blog is now reaching for straws while observing Obama’s public speeches. Applying a “GLBT” message where there isn’t much more than a mention of diversity in what Barack Obama actually said.

This story gained helium last week when the Senator jealously tried to fish for more votes from the African-American voter community. Obama set up a three-city tour of gospel singers for him to go out on tour and his star headliner was Donnie McClurkin, the same McClurkin who sang at the 2004 Republican National Convention. The link, from Fox News, is entitled: “Gay Minister Joins Obama in Concert in S.C.” is misleading, because according to McClurkin, he’s no longer gay. (Leave it to Fox to screw up their own philosophies and the prophets that preach them.) Pam Spaulding has a video of McClurkin’s 204 GOP/NRC performance, if you’re really that desperate.

Not only does Donnie McClurkin believe he’s gay anymore, but he also believes that the rest of “the Gays” are murdering children and they’re cursed. The National Black Justice Coalition quotes McClurkin saying referencing “The Gays”:

“The gloves are off and if there’s going to be a war, there’s going to be a war. But it will be a war with a purpose?. I’m not in the mood to play with those who are trying to kill our children.”

So, we have an alleged X-Gay who’s now preaching the GospelPMS Detergent and getting Grammy Awards for singing Gospel Music, and after all of that hatred towards gay and lesbian people…and, McClurkin is allowed to call himself a Christian? Why is Senator Barack Obama saddling up with this kind of hate-monger? One more rhetorical question, I promise: Did Donnie McClurkin really manage to pray all that gay away?

The other singing “sensation” that went out on tour with Obama and McClurkin are a couple of sisters Tina Atkins and Erica Campbell who formed a group called “Mary Mary”. These lovely ladies started singing in church, but now they’re at bars and clubs and singing Jesus’ praises and spreading God’s Love everywhere they go. And when these two get interviewed by Vibe Magazine, the “gay question” is brought up.

Said Vibe:

I’m not sure if you are aware of this, but you have a large gay following. How do you feel about homosexuality and having a gay following?

Erica was the first to reply (the highlights are my own):

We are aware. Um… how do I feel about homosexuality? I feel how God feels about it, um… but I still love them. You know what I mean? I don’t agree with the lifestyle, but I love them. They can come to the concert; I’m going to hug them just like I hug everybody else. They have issues and need somebody to encourage them like everybody else – just like the murderer, just like the one full of pride, just like the prostitute, everybody needs God. What your struggle is may not be what my struggle is, but we all need Him. So, that’s what our music is about: giving and God. Not to condone the lifestyle or to say, Oh it’s okay, but not to bash – but just to give them God.

Fruit LoopsErica here equates homosexuality to murderers, prostitutes and people who are “full of pride”. Did you just choke on your Fruit Loops and have a little milk erp out of your nose? Tina picks it up from there by saying:

Everyone has things in their life that they need to correct, everybody has struggles. Even though that’s the way we feel, we don’t bash, and we embrace everybody who enjoys our music. Hopefully our music is impacting them in a way that, if they see there’s some things in their life that’s not quite right and doesn’t align themselves with what the Bible says – hopefully our music impacts them in a way that makes them want to change it.

Miss Thing here – she’s gay bashing but wants you to know she just isn’t into gay bashing. She’s quick to point out others who “align themselves” with the Bible and dumb enough to for skip over that part that says; “Judge not, lest ye be judged.

This is Barack Obama’s way to “reaching” out to the African-American voter? Was it his idea is to hatch the Black version of the Klu Klux Klan? The hate-speech that spews from these people on their hatred towards Gays and Lesbian and it makes Barack Obama look like the Grand Marshall of that Hate Parade.

Senator Obama makes it worse by desperately trying to make it better. HRC’s Chair Joe Solmonese issued a statement to the Senator’s campaign expressing his disappointment in his decisions to work with these hate-mongering slobs. BarackAndy Sidden Obama lunged for a chance to fix the problem and so he grabs Rev Andy Sidden, a white gay minister from Garden of Grace United Church of Christ in Winston-Salem, NC and puts him on the ticket. Mega-fast Joe Solmonese whipped out a new statement clarifying he had nothing to do with recommending Sidden.

Really… A white guy? He decided on a white guy?!

Let me guess Senator: You put a gay white dude on the ticket so you could demonstrate that African-American stereotype that says “gay” is a white-only thing? You couldn’t find a gay African-American that would be more suited to find that “American Love-In” that you were so hoping for? Oh wait, you did find two gay African-American ministers who could have represented the LGBT community very well in spite of this Big Black Hate Machine you created. Both Bishop Yvette Flunder and Bishop Tonyia Rawls of Unity Fellowship of North Carolina were available and passed over in exchange of the white gay guy. Rev. Michael Eric Dyson and Bishop Carlton Pearson were two gay male ministers who were also passed over in exchange of a white guy.

This Great Hate Parade concert ended badly and the blame goes to Donnie McClurkin. John Aravosis culled the final half from the New York Times:

He approached the subject gingerly at first. Then, just when the concert had seemed to reach its pitch and about to end, Mr. McClurkin returned to it with a full-blown plea: “Don’t call me a bigot or anti-gay when I have suffered the same feelings,” he cried.

“God delivered me from homosexuality,” he added. He then told the audience to believe the Bible over the blogs: “God is the only way.” The crowd sang and clapped along in full support….

Mr. McClurkin: Not only are you a bigot and anti-gay, you’re also liar, a hypocrite, hate-monger, a fucking whore for both the Republican Party and the Democrat Party and you’re a charlatan.

By the way, what happened to our lonely white gay minister? Why wasn’t he front and center to make sure the GLBT voice was heard after McClurkin’s tirade of hate? He wasn’t. Because after his short prayer at the beginning of the evening’s concernt, Sidden slipped out the ehem…proverbial “back door” and left the concert. And who could blame him? It’s a Hate Fest on gays and since Senator Barack Obama didn’t even bother to show up for the closing show anyway. Sidden’s already made his money. I would have skipped town too!

Now that three days have passed, Senator Obama is still tooting his “Horn of Diversity”. His official “blog master” on the Obama ’08 website makes note of his speech in Cedar Rapids, IA at Coe College.

Obama also reiterated his support for civil unions for same-sex couples, giving props to the younger generation for being more open to change, and saying that as one of the younger candidates in the race, he wants to be a part of that process. “Part of my job as president I think is to deliver a message that everybody is part of the American family,” he said. “Not just some people. And obviously as somebody who is African-American – my mother is from Kansas, my father was from Kenya, I grew up in Indonesia, I have a sister who looks Spanish, I’ve got a brother in law who is Chinese-Canadian – I’m very sensitive to making sure that everybody feels a part of America. And that’s one of the things I think I can bring to this presidency. The day I’m inaugurated the country will look at itself differently and I think be more tolerant.”

Thanks for those kind words, Senator. We realizehypocrisy that if Hillary Clinton put together a Hate Parade with a musical tour throughout South Carolina with acts that proudly proclaim: “BLACKS ARE A CURSE!” and “BLACK MEN KILL CHILDREN!”, you and the African-American community would think differently about “hate in America”. And if John Edwards would put together a duet of sexy blond whores who equate black people with murderers and prostitution, you’ll be ready-fast with a white gay guy as your personal human shield.

Senator Obama hasn’t been without opportunity to clear this up and distance himself from the Great Hate Parade he created. He has since appeared on Ellen Degeneres’ show. Ellen, who’s an openly gay woman and who’s mother Betty is an active member of PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), a spokesperson for the HRC Coming Out Project and writes a column for Planet Out e-magazine, could have created a wonderful healing moment for both the GLBT and the African-American community. Ellen, Mom Betty and Barack Obama could have become a lightning rod of attention for both the black and the GLBT communities. Obama’s best chance for a “uniting voice” within the chaos and return to looking like a true candidate for President of the United States. But he didn’t. Instead, he decided to shoot the breeze FruitFlyabout the ironic connection in ancestry between his family and Vice President Dick Cheney’s. Then he danced around the floor with Ellen and the two grooved to a few catchy dance-steps and it was done.

BOO! <HISSS> BOO!

War; What Is It Good For?

A War Of Bullets

Last week, we saw our Decider in Chief tell all of us that he’s already committed 21,000 troops into Baghdad, which confuses me as to the reason behind the presentation in the first place. Isn’t that about the same thing as being stopped at a red light and the guy behind you gets out of his car, walks up to your window and says: “I’ve already committed to the idea of running into your back with my car, please buckle up.”?

A War Of Words

Last October, we witnessed Michael Richards go on some wacked-out tirade against black folks and calling them theMichael Richards “N——” word. Mr. Richards, a Jew, later tries to apologise six ways to Sunday, including phoning in while Jerry Seinfeld was out on the sofa with Jay Leno. (Click the picture of Richards to see the YouTube video if you’re interested in seeing this idiot do it all over again.) Albeit Richards’ meltdown was in the middle of his act, the media was in a frenzie about his word choice…everybody was talking about it.

During that same time, TR Knight of the ABC show “Greys Anatomy” came out of the closet rather quietly. What was going on? Isaiah Washington was talking to some of the cast members and referencing TR by calling him a faggot. Then during the Golden Globe awards, a reporter asked the cast of Greys Anatomy a question to which Isaiah Washington excitedly grabbed the microphone and said; “I did not…call TR Knight a faggot.”

Golden Globe Awards; Greys Anatomy cast TR Knight, as he reported on Ellen Degeneres’ show “Ellen”, said he was around the corner when Washington let the slur slip out of his mouth the first time. He said little on the show about Washington’s comment on Ellen’s show, however Katherine Heigl who plays Dr Isobel “Izzie” Stephens, was quoted to say (about Washington); “He should just not be allowed to speak in public” [about this topic].

How weird the two incidents, both happening right around the same time frame, that one gets virtually no airtime in comparason.

By the way, if you want to sign an “e-protest” and have your voice heard to have Isaiah Washington fired, you can click here. The best write up argument about this incident came from AfterElton which you can read by clicking here. Another excellent write up on this story comes from Dorothy Surrenders and their peice on “Anatomy of Hate”.

Now tell me something: If Isaiah Washington can call TR Knight a faggot while in the workplace, would it be perfectly acceptable for TR Knight to turn around and say; “F*** off, nigger!” Is there a balance in that?

Perhaps the more honest response is a simple response: “Don’t call us a faggot and we won’t call you.”

A War of Legislation

Brandt Hershman, a state senator from Indiana (a Republican of course), has won the GOP Hypocrit of the week with his newest legislation to prevent gay folks from getting married in the Hoosier State.

The legislator’s ex-wife alleges that in 2000 he drove her to an abortion clinic and he paid for her to have an abortion. Even better, he then filed for divorce a week later. Nice. He said that he didn’t force her to do so, she claimed that he did.

This guy is just as bad as Newt “Newtie” Gingrich, who met his wife in recovery after cancer surgery with his attorneyNewtie Baby present demanding that she sign his divorce papers.

The most notorious incident in Gingrich’s marriage — first reported by David Osborne in Mother Jones magazine in 1984 — was when he cornered Jackie in her hospital room where she was recovering from uterine cancer surgery and insisted on discussing the terms of the divorce he was seeking.

Shortly after that infamous encounter, Gingrich refused to pay his alimony and child-support payments. The First Baptist Church in his hometown had to take up a collection to support the family Gingrich had deserted.

Let’s also point out that Newtie’s women all had to give him a blow-job because, as he put it, “so I can say that I haven’t slept with you”. He was mighty upset about Clinton’s blow-job act, but for him…It’s okay.

It’s becoming more and more of a stereotype that these neocons are nothing but a Sunday School teacher’s failure with a macaroni , paper and glitter potrait. “The National Sunday School Teacher Association” shouldn’t be blamed… Newtie, Hershman and Bush Co. are the obvious constant.

A War on Church

Bishop Desmond Tutu is at it again, blasting Peter Akinola’s homophobia within the Anglican Church. Just in time before their upcoming big meetings (Anglican Communion) where the fur will fly and homophobes will be screaming about how terrifying gay people aren’t.

I have to hand it to Bishop Tutu – some folks like Billy Graham, some like Jerry Falwell (I don’t know why), while others love Sinead O’Conner as a favorite person of the religious cloth… For me? It’s Bishop Desmond Tutu who has always managed to live his life as a Christian should, and as Christ commanded us.

No wait… That sounded all weird and stuff….!! I take that back!!

A War on Attorneys

The Bush Administration is terminating the services of, or demoting attorneys involved in the Jack Abramoff scandals. When Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez was asked about this activity, Gonzalez went into complete denial claiming that the firing of these attorneys were simply another example of brilliant management-style by the President.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has denied political motivations behind the resignations, recently telling Congress, “Nothing could be further from the truth.” He added that they were a “sign of good management” by the Bush administration.

Meanwhile, a top official in the Pentagon is trying to intimidate law firms that are representating prisoners in Guantanamo. The Pentagon, tried to separate themselves from Charles “Cully” Stimson’s comments by stating emphatically that he doesn’t represent the view of the Bush Administration. Stimson, who seemed to be on a rant, went on to say;

“And I think, quite honestly, when corporate CEOs see that those firms are representing the very terrorists who hit their bottom line back in 2001, those CEOs are going to make those law firms choose between representing terrorists or representing reputable firms,” Stimson said.

Asked who might be paying the law firms to represent Guantanamo detainees, Stimson hinted at wrongdoing for which some explaining should be done.

“It’s not clear, is it? Some will maintain that they’re doing it out of the goodness of their heart — that they’re doing it pro bono, and I suspect they are,” he said. “Others are receiving monies from who knows where and I’d be curious to have them explain that.”

Well boys and girls, if you can’t call this Stalinism or Marxism, when shall we begin?

A War On Racism

HargroveIn a Virginia newspaper interview relating to Virginia offering an apology to African Americans for its involvement with slavery, Delegate Frank D. Hargrove stated simply:

slavery ended nearly 140 years ago with the Civil War and added that “our black citizens should get over it.”

Mr. Hargrove went on to ask the rhetorical question of whether or not Jews should apologizing for the crucifixition of Christ!

As a proud Yankee, it’s high time we put people like Frank Hargrove on notice by saying we have no plans to apologize forV Goode kicking his grand-daddy’s ass in the Civil War. We have no qualms about remindng Mr. Hargrove and his racist buddy Virgil Goode that their grandfathers’ asses were handed to them and we have no intention of ever apologizing for it and we’ll happily do it again!

I wonder how any Republican can be proud to stand up with these neo-nazi scumballs? I mean, don’t they smell bad or something?!

A War on Music

And finally (whew!) there’s the matter of war in music. While I typed all of this and zoomed around picking up links and pictures, I kept humming the same tune in my head… “War..What is it good for? UH! …AAAboslutely nothing! Say it again!!” Of course, thinking about Ewdin Starr’s original 1970 version kept sticking in my brain. Then U2’s Sunday Bloody Sunday song danced around in my head, which was from their WAR album back in 198-something.

But one tune stuck out especially…and I have to admit – the Video they produced was pretty damned cool too. So, if’n ya wanna see my musical interpretation of “war”… Click here:
